We use the latest diagnostic equipment including CT, 1.5 and 3 tesla MRI, PET and Nuclear Medicine Department (determination of sentinel lymph nodes using radiotracer). We use molecular (genetic) diagnostics in the decision-making process concerning patients’ treatment.
We provide diagnosis and treatment in the following areas:
cancer surgery,
general surgery in a limited scope,
endocrine surgery.
The scope of performed operations:
gastrointestinal cancer,
cancers of endocrine organs,
breast cancer (we have been performing a full range of breast cancer treatments including breast reconstructions using implants and patients’ own tissue),
skin cancer (including melanoma and sarcomas).
We offer interdisciplinary treatments in cooperation with the Department of Urology and Gynecology.
We provide combination therapy in collaboration with the Department of Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy and Brachytherapy, which secures the best effects of cancer treatment. Endocrine surgeries of thyroid, parathyroid with intraoperative PTH determination and adrenal cancers as well as neuroendocrine cancers are performed in patients diagnosed and prepared in the Department of Endocrinology. We offer the opportunity to continue treatment at the Radioactive Iodine Therapy Unit. We have modern 3D laparoscopic equipment including harmonic knives, a water knife, devices for thermal ablation and thermal resection of the liver. During the procedure, we are able to perform intraoperative testing.
Each surgery is preceded by a consultation with a doctor, who informs the patient about the course of the surgery, the risks associated with it, possible complications as well as further treatment and rehabilitation. Each patient is treated individually selecting the optimal course of treatment, ensuring the best use of current medical knowledge, combining experience with the precision of cancer surgery. The department is accredited for specialized training programs (4 places).
