The Department of Epidemiology and Fight Against Cancer deals with the evaluation of the epidemiological situation of morbidity and mortality related to malignant tumors in the Świętokrzyskie Region: the order of their occurrence, time trends, 5-, and 10-year survival rates, malignant tumor burden in the districts of the Region and so on. Every year we publish newsletters on the epidemiology of malignant tumors. In the Świętokrzyskie region. These materials are used for scientific publications and preventive purposes. The activities of the Department of Epidemiology and Fight Against Cancer are based on the use of information from the Świętokrzyskie Office for Cancer Registration which is a part of the Department. The Świętokrzyskie Office for Cancer Registration collects information about cancer patients living in the Świętokrzyskie region. The data collected are identified based on the Cancer Registration Form. All health care facilities in the Świętokrzyskie region are required to report each case of developing cancer to the Świętokrzyskie Office for Cancer Registration . Declaration rates are annually controlled by the Office’s employees. The Świętokrzyskie Office for Cancer Registration has long been considered one of the best in Poland. It has a 94% completeness of registration, a high percentage of histopathological confirmation and a small percentage of cases of cancer without specifying its location - C80. High reliability of the data has enabled us to cooperate (exchange of data and its publication) with the International Agency for Research on Cancer of the World Health Organization (WHO) based in Lyon and the European Network of Cancer Registries. Epidemiological studies on the Świętokrzyskie region are published in the publications of "Cancer Incidence In Five Continents". Epidemiological material collected in the Świętokrzyskie Office for Cancer Registration is an important contribution to the analysis on the cancer burden in Poland and in the world.
